About the event

Wild Workspaces: What's that all about  then?

Wild workspaces is a co-working pop up event, held at a beautiful nature based venue located in North Yorkshires Nidderdale valley.

The concept is simple a co-working/share space event to come and work for the day with a focus on connection.

Wild Workspaces is not just a  change of view for your working day. It is also a place to connect and mingle with others, with designated spaces and times for optional networking.

Wild Workspaces also promotes positive well-being, as you reap the benefits of time in and connected with the natural world.

Your Host JK, Founder, Coach and Facilitator at Where the Mind Grows, also offers an open circle around lunch time with a free and optional workshop focused on your well-being at work.

So there are plenty of ways to leave better connected after a day at wild workspaces.

Our over-all aim of these events is to support people to reduce their seperation from nature, as well as reducing the isolation, lonelineness and 'stagnating' of working from home or remotely, day in, day out.

At Where the Mind Grows we aim to reduce the stigma of conversations around mental health and well-being and the health of our planet too.

Nature is a co-facilitator and team mate in our business aporoach and we love to support people to enhance the health and happiness of themselves, their teams and the planet too - through our coaching, team facilitation and events like WILD WORKSPACES.

Wild Workspaces was sown from the light and shade of two years of change in working styles.

The light - with more flexibility and the opportunity to enhance your well-being. The Wild Workspace events invite you to change perspective and discover new views (literally). Balancing focused productivity whilst creating space to prioritise well-being for one working day a month!

The shade – with more people reporting loneliness, isolation, and disconnection. And, added stresses and pressures in work and life. Wild Work spaces aim to promote a healthy working culture by reconnecting you with a sense of community. A relaxed 'nucleus' for re-energised task completion. To help you to feel good about what you do, and who you are!

(add to that all the chaos and complexity ourselves and our business are exposed to these days, we figured a place to root was EXTRA important!)

You get the added benefits for mind and body when you surround yourself with nature. Gift yourself a day away from your desk each month!

The concept is simple

A 'Pop up' co-working space -in Nature of course!-  for you. Step out of the office, and back into inspirational and relaxing locations and mindsets.

People and Planet health are at the core of what we do at Where the Mind Grows, and we believe we ALL have our place in nature.

Our wild workspaces may not have ALL the mod-cons , high tech gizmos you have come to expect in your working day.

Instead giving you permission to minimise distractions, ‘rest your tech’ and attune your attention.

Switch off ‘busy’.  Find yourself with moments and space for a  calm and clear mind, to do things differently.

Simplicity is the theme of our events. Helping you find a simple, still and spacious setting to work creatively, calmly, or productively - You Choose!

What happens at a Wild Workspaces event?

Come along to the beautiful venue, where nature can inspire your day:

ON THE DAY

JK your Wild Workspace 'Hostess with the Mostess' will welcome you and make sure you have the information you need to get comfortable and focused for your day. (This happens at our welcome orientation at 10:00am)

To keep things semi orderly, before you get to go play - sorry I mean work- in the wild, we ask that people arrive between 09:30 and 10:00am so a short coordinated  'whats'what' orientation and intro can be shared so you feel confident about the rest of your day.

You will have access to refreshments throughout the day and we schedule in Mid Morning and Mid Afternoon breaks, where you are encouraged to pause your tasks, have a good stretch and mingle with the Wild Workspace's community.  But you are free to take them as you need.

(If you prefer to keep yourself to yourself we will certainly support you with that protected time and space.)

A designated open networking area is available throughout the day to meet other 'wild workers' and for connection and chitty-chatting, avoiding distraction of those who value a focused and quiet working space at a co-working event.

There are four main areas in which you can work:

The communal area - this is a cosy shelter on the glamping site with access to electricity - looking out onto the Nidderdale Valley - there are chairs and tables in here too.  Refreshments can be found here throuhout the day and we have the option to pop on the log burning fire should we need to keep warm.  ( as this is a summer event, hopefully not!)

The Pond - Two wildlife ponds set amongst a green field, with picnic tables and benches as well as use of picnic blankets should you wish to sprawl. There wil also be an allocated area here for networking.

The woods -  A short walk ( 8-15 minutes dependent on your fitness level) through the site and you delve into Where the Mind Grows woodland. We lease this woodland from the site owners for our coaching sessions and team/retreat events. During the wild workspaces, you'll have access to this area. Grab a camping chair or picnic blanket or perch on a log and take in the surrounds of natures sounds, with bird song and the trickle of a stream close by.

(TOP TIP: Download the MERLIN bird ID app before you come, to discover which birds are keeping you company while you work)

There will often be a fire on the go and a circle, should you wish to sit and chat with fellow wild workers here.

(Networking and connection are celebrated but please refrain from any HARD SELLING of services, lets get to know each other first!)

The Burrow -  Down in the Woods you also have access to Where the Mind Grows Toureg Tent -  a bell-style-tent known fondly as The Burrow. This shelter offers some comfy chairs and cover in the woods, you can look out onto the woods with some shelter.

About the Venue

Little Seed Filed has a dairy farm, micro-wedding barn and glamping cabins onsite and is also the home of Where the Mind Grows woodland ( leased from the owners)

The venue is an idyllic rural setting, and you'll really feel like you have escaped the rat race when you land yourself here to work for a day.

Wild Workspaces supports people to work differently encouraging you to plan and prepare tasks that are either totally off grid or require a low tech approach.

Whilst we have power onsite, the venue does not have wifi.

Whilst JK successfully works in the woods, tethering her phone to her laptop each week, we cannot guarnatee this due to varied signal and networks so please be aware of this when planning your tasks.

Our previous wild workspaces attendees have actaully found working in this tech-limited way can be really inspiring with one attendee saying that Wild Workspaces is a place to 'Get Sh*t done' and another highlighting their chance to work through those 'Tasks that always end up at the bottom of the list'

You can discover some ideas and inspiration for activities to do at our wild workspaces, and its a great space for 'bigger picture' thinking, planning and reflection. Or perhaps a space to write those creative socials and blogs that you always find distraction for.

The venue has onsite toilet facilitaties available to wild workspaces and we provide refreshments throughout to cater for vegans and Gluten Free as well.

There are a range of camping blankets, chairs and tables for use and I also have basic stationary supplies and chargers should you forget something
