Walk my Dog
One to One telephone coaching sessions for people too far from the woods, or struggling to fit it all in.
OK first things first. This is Leon the Lurcher, my dog and no you don't actually have to walk him. For a 'walk my dog' coaching session.
These sessions are offered at 60 minutes together. On the phone.
For people who need a break from a zoom call, or just can't make your way to the woods for distance, design or other time commitments.
But the idea that you could still walk and talk, from a local nature spot, or pottering in your garden. That sounds, right up your wild!
The 'Walk my Dog' Story
If you are curious about how this option for a career or life coaching session, came about. Have a read of this.

My first ever coaching session (One for myself, not one I delivered) was waaaay before all this Zoom and Teams malarkey. It was with an amazing lady called Hannah, paid for by an old employer as part of my leadership development at the time. And one experience that really wanted me to begin coaching. And because we lived so far away from each other, Hannah in Brighton and me in Leeds, Yorkshire. It needed to be by phone.
I wasn't sure if it would work, but it did and we had our package this way. Me sometimes moving around my room, guided by activities and it was so interesting to see the different forms of communication and listening from us both without the visual cues of our bodies and faces.
A few years later, I'd qualified in my own coaching training and a few years after that, I took my sessions into the woods. Finally securing a place to get rooted, at a woodland near Ripon North Yorkshire back in 2023.
Occasionally. A tech issue, or time limitation. A clients car breaking down on the way to the woods or needing to wait in for the boiler guy, even a client who was on standby for labour of her twins, meant an adhoc phone coaching call here and then.
And one day myself and a client, for various reasons, decided we'd dial in remotely and both walk our dogs. Describing our local nature spots, taking time to pause and connect with the natural world and some discussions and explanations at the russle of a bag when we had to pick up our dogs deposits!
Around 2019 I came across a guy called Tad Hargrave, an ethical marketeer who lived in Canada ( I promise you this is relevant) I've followed Tad's stuff ever since and even been to a session when he visited the UK. Because I've always found the old school capitalist marketing approaches icky and his approach really encourages business owners to market in a way that helps you choose freely without silly bold claims, or dodgy persuasion tactics. Highlighting how our stuff could help. The reason this is relevant is because Tad has sessions called 'puttering' sessions. Where he also coaches [marketing] on the phone while he tidies his house. When I learned about this, I saw the similarities to my own remote and adhoc calls. But it felt dodgy to market something that was effective Tad's idea. Musing on and off about making these sessions a 'thing' has been years in the making. But when Tad sent an email in early 2026 encouraging us to find our own version of 'puttering' if it works for us and our clients. I felt like that was the real opportunity to share this with you.
Because over the years, people have shared with me how much they would love to coach, to be in Nature. But how the woods is just not feasible for them. So, I hope if that is you. This offers you that solution. To work together if it feels right!
Its great that we have tech to support us in as variety of ways and make thing accessible. I LOVE that I have a private woodland you can share your session space with. But I also appreciate that in this busy world. Sometimes the simplest solution (an old school phone call and a walk round your block) might be your actual solution.
I'll be very honest with you too, a while back I doubted if this would work. Could theses sessions be as good, as effective? Without us being in the woods together, without us being face to face. But I have had to get out of my own way with that. Because when they have happened they've worked just great and one client K - who has a long term health condition - said 'I really valued being able to go for a walk, it was too much to get to the woods, but I just did not want to be sat in front of a screen for any more of my day'. And the great thing is, I get to learn about the Nature spots you go to and live in too. I got to hear how (another) K was tending to her garden and what was growing, or how the light dappled through the avenue trees on a leaders walk to work and provided energy for his mind and body. (The only time he could manage to fit in a session for himself that week)
What I have found is that these phone sessions weren't any less effective that in person in the woods, or over Zoom. They honed in listening, still had chance to share nature and helped the person at the end of the phone to commit, not compromise the time they needed for themselves. For some people they made sessions possible, where their day, time or situation might have felt a little limited for them.
So, there you go. Walk my Dog sessions, new for 2026.
I hope you'll enjoy them. If that is what you need.
And if you know a busy person, with something they need to work on. Let them know, they can 'Walk my Dog'

How does it work?
Booking this type of session is really simple
Unlike the other one to one and employee coaching packages, you don't have to book a discovery call for these sessions (unless you would like to or we need a quick check in to ensure its a good fit)
The [WMD] session lasts 60 minutes and are held by phone either on a telephone call or WhatsApp call (audio only)
You'll simply follow the link below. Review the coaching agreement, answer the sign up questions and complete the booking with payment.
You'll receive some practical planning and preparation considerations and then I'll call you on the day.
I might be calling from the woods, walking Leon, or in my office with a view from the window.
Whilst there is no expectation to go for a walk, your session will be enhanced by some sort of access to Nature during our time together. But I also totally understand if you need to be at your home, or doing the washing up instead.
As long as you can focus, minimise distractions and disruptions and have a confidential space. In a way that is safe. That will work.
You might like to plan your session activity ahead of the time together, use hands free and ear phones, charge up your phone and have a notebook on hand to capture thoughts and goals.
The 60 minute session is £100 throughout 2026.
Book your session below, or to arrange a discovery call first, do that here.

Who's it for & when something else might work better:
'Walk My Dog' sessions work best as a focused one-off, perhaps with something a little time bound for you? It is likely to work well for you if you know roughly what you want to think about and just need the space and the right questions to think it through..
If you feel busy, purposeful, and just need an hour to get out of your own head. Whether that is exploring life stuff, or work stuff or a bit of both. It's also worked well for leaders and business owners, who love the idea of combining some time in nature for their well-being, with the benefits gleaned from coaching focus. If you plan to use the time to go for a wander, you'll feel confident and physically able to plan and carry out this safely alone.
(Remember there is no obligation to go for a walk during the sessions, though most people who choose this style session find this of value)
Here are some examples from past sessions:
-
Interview preparation
-
Preparing for a difficult conversation with a staff member
-
Planning discussions for a pay rise request
-
Presenting nerves ahead of a wedding speech
-
Working through some feedback received that felt difficult to process [ahead of next supervision]
-
Help create a reset on a specific well-being goal
-
Helping to plan time
-
Working on wider career coaching goals, when physical health prevented travel to the woods.
It's probably not the ideal fit if you're in the middle of something complex and ongoing , like a career transition that's been building for years, a return to work after time off, or a period where your mental health and confidence need more consistent, sustained support.
You might want to explore the coaching packages page for alternative routes to coaching. Or book in a discovery call to figure out what is best.
These sessions may also not work for you, if you rely on visual cues and face to face connection for information processing. Or you worry that you won't be able to focus with other things going on during the session time.
If you have a lot of emotions you need to process, or a conversation that would be difficult to have in a public place. My other coaching options may be better suited for you.
Not sure? Pop me a message and we'll figure it out together.
However, if you've read this page and are already clear on exactly how and what this type of session could help you with.
